  1. Review the issue of the cost of doing nothing
    1. In terms of Medicaid costs.
    2. Also look at the costs of violence in terms of hospital care and other costs.
    3. Reveal an investigative journalist podcast estimates that the costs of all the shootings in Chicago per year is $2.5 billion, which includes lost tax revenues, medical costs, etc.
    4. See if we can update the cost of an individual dropout which in a study in 2009 was $290,000.
  2. Review the overview of neighborhood joblessness and crime
    1. There is a good source of data on this in a Crain’s Chicago August article.  Also look at other sources of data in other states, cities and various localities.
  3. LGBTQ number of youth and young adults who are jobless and jobless and out of school
    1. Molly Uhe-Edmonds will get data on LGBTQ youth in care
    2. Kenneth Martin-Ocasio said we should get broader LGBTQ data in the state and sub areas of the state.
    3. This group of youth and young adults are often invisible and we need to find data that may be available.
  4. Look at Opioid Usage data in various reports for Chicago, Cook County, IL, other states and nationally for youth and young adults.
    1. Gretchen mentioned an IDHS study which we will find and use
  5. Gather youth graduate and dropout rates from across the state
    1. Kenny Martin Ocasio said to find graduate and dropout rate numbers across the state for individual districts.
    2. The ASN has tapped into ISBE data and has the dropout data that ISBE reports from the fall enrollments each year.

    1. Molly suggested to look at the education level of parents who are students and young adults and see if there is some correlation of that with income
